Job Summary

Oversee large heavy civil construction projects ($50M–$300M) from start to finish, leading planning, budgeting, scheduling, and overall project startup through safe, on-time, on-budget completion. Coordinate construction teams, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, JV partners, and owner representatives while ensuring compliance with safety (OSHA), environmental standards, and contract requirements. Manage budgets and project controls, quality assurance/QC, client and DOT stakeholder relations, and project closeout documentation.

Key Responsibilities

•Develop comprehensive project plans and construction schedules to meet contract milestones and client expectations.
•Manage project budgets, forecast costs, control expenditures, and track financial performance including invoices and change orders.
•Lead, mentor, and motivate the project team while fostering a safety-first culture and accountability.
•Oversee subcontractors and suppliers, negotiate subcontracts, and coordinate with quality control/assurance to ensure work meets specifications and schedules.
•Handle contract administration and closeout, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, progress payments, final inspections, punch lists, and as-built documentation.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (field operation experience may be credited).
•Minimum of 15 years of civil construction industry experience, including at least 5 years as a Project Manager/Segment Manager/Area Manager on heavy civil projects.
•Proven ability to manage heavy civil construction projects start to finish, including familiarity with UDOT (or other DOT) procedures, specifications, and standards.
•Proficiency with construction management software, including project scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project), project management platforms (e.g., HCSS, Bid2Win or similar), and strong MS Office skills.
•Experience with Alternative Delivery methods (e.g., Design-Build, CMAR, Progressive Design-Build) and responsibility for documentation, estimating support, contract compliance, and multi-disciplinary coordination.
