Key Responsibilities

  • •Direct and manage a multidisciplinary engineering team within the Technical Research Team, reporting to the Motors and Power Systems Research Director.
  • •Stretch electric motor turbomachinery performance across speed, power density, efficiency, and low noise by continuously improving aero performance.
  • •Design and develop enabling aerodynamics technologies for next-generation products, bringing new technologies that improve DDM performance.
  • •Lead planning and resource management across multiple complex research projects, meeting cost, size, weight, efficiency, and timeline targets.
  • •Manage technology roadmaps, engage in external research activities, oversee supplier relationships and negotiations, and lead recruitment/mentoring to address team capability gaps.

Key Requirements

  • •BEng/MEng degree in a relevant engineering field with demonstrable industrial experience.
  • •Proven delivery record of high-performance engineering solutions.
  • •Demonstrable technical expertise across aero-acoustics and turbomachinery, including turbomachinery design/analysis (aero/acoustics) and aerodynamics with acoustics awareness.
  • •Strong working knowledge of Design for Manufacture (DFM) and ability to apply DFM/DFA/DFMEAs and requirements capture in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment.
  • •Experience using multi-disciplinary 1D to 3D simulation techniques to drive designs, judging when quick hand calculations are sufficient versus complex 3D simulation.
