Key Responsibilities

  • •Draft proposals and develop scopes, including conceptual designs and execution plans.
  • •Generate engineering cost and man-hour estimates, as well as schedules.
  • •Create detailed primary engineering drawings for EHV projects (AIS/GIS) from 11kV to 400kV, emphasizing 132kV and above.
  • •Develop design deliverables including land utilisation, conduit layouts, earthing grounding connections, lighting and lightning protection details, bills of materials, CDM and MEWP layouts, and design calculations.
  • •Coordinate and review design activities across departments, collaborate with clients, provide consultancy support in FEED stage deliverables, and mentor less experienced team members with quality checks while applying Safety by Design.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
  • •5–10 years of experience in substation transmission & distribution and renewable (onshore/offshore wind, solar) and BESS projects.
  • •Experience in a lead substation design role on UK National Grid Electricity Transmission projects (UK utilities preferred).
  • •Thorough knowledge of National Grid Technical Specifications, Technical Guidance Notes, and Design Handbooks for UK substations.
  • •Prefer familiarity with CDEGS and WinIGS, and ability to use 3D tools for engineering design.
