Key Responsibilities

  • •Perform histological preparations for tissue in a whole exome sequencing laboratory with little to no errors.
  • •Prepare tissues and stained slides and perform supporting workflow tasks, including macrodissection.
  • •Independently prepare testing, reagents, and equipment after completion of training and competency.
  • •Monitor and perform case management to ensure cases are processed within departmental TAT goals and investigate sample processing issues.
  • •Participate in validations and reagent qualifications; contribute to EH&S initiatives and update/create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Key Requirements

  • •An associate’s (or higher) degree in a histotechnician program, or an associate’s (or higher) degree in chemical or biological sciences plus histology training/experience within the past 5 years (or at least 9 months histotechnician training).
  • •HT (ASCP) required.
  • •0–2 years of experience.
  • •Must pass a post-offer criminal background check.
  • •Complete training relating to HIPAA/PHI privacy, General Policies and Procedure Compliance, and security training within the first 30 days of hire.
