Job Summary

Provide Human Factors Integration support across the engineering lifecycle by tailoring and estimating required HF work, capturing and managing requirements, risks, and opportunities, and offering design guidance. Plan and execute quantitative and qualitative HF assessments such as human error, workload, situation awareness, ergonomics, and usability. Advise on the design and usability of hardware and software, applying current HF best practices and supporting testing, evaluation, acceptance, and review.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide Human Factors Integration support in the design of products and processes by tailoring and estimating required HF work.
•Capture and manage Human Factors requirements, risks, and opportunities, and provide design guidance.
•Plan and execute quantitative and qualitative human factors assessments (human error, workload, situation awareness, ergonomic analysis, usability).
•Provide advice on the design and usability of hardware and software products.
•Identify and implement novel or updated approaches to Human Factors best practice based on up-to-date research, supporting acceptance and review.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: GBP 60,000

Key Requirements

•Have a recognised bachelor’s or master’s degree (or equivalent) in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Psychology, or Engineering.
•Be a registered member of the Chartered Institute of Human Factors (or Technical Member with eligibility for registration within 12 months).
•Demonstrate experience applying Human Factors methods in defence or another safety-critical industry.
•Be familiar with Defence Human Factors Standards (e.g., Def Stan 00-251 or Mil-Std 1472).
•Apply Human Factors Integration methods to tailor work effort and manage HF requirements, risks, and opportunities.
