Job Summary

Lead the SERA (social, environmental, and regulatory approvals) workstreams to secure regulatory approvals for capital growth projects in Trail, BC. You’ll identify and obtain required provincial and federal permits/notifications, develop approval and Indigenous/community engagement strategies, manage application reviews and draft permit negotiations, and coordinate reporting on permitting status, risks, and mitigations to senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

•Secure regulatory approvals for capital growth projects aligned with provincial and federal regulatory frameworks.
•Lead social, environmental, and regulatory approvals (SERA) workstreams for projects based in Trail, British Columbia.
•Develop and execute strategies for regulatory approvals and Indigenous/community engagement aligned with project schedule and milestones.
•Prepare and submit permitting applications, coordinating expert/legal/senior management reviews and managing reviewer comment responses and draft permit condition negotiations.
•Manage SERA budgets, schedule, scope, risks (including maintaining a SERA risk register), and provide regular reporting and briefings to senior leadership.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: CAD 121,800 - 162,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Degree or diploma in a related field such as environmental planning or environmental science, natural resources, engineering, or equivalent education and experience.
•Minimum 10 years leading regulatory aspects of complex major capital projects in an industrial environment with major permitting and/or environmental assessment processes (preferably in BC).
•Knowledge and experience with BC permitting under the Environmental Management Act, Water Sustainability Act, and Environmental Assessment Act; federal permitting is an asset.
•Experience engaging and consulting with Indigenous Nations, regulatory agencies, and other communities of interest.
•Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
