Key Responsibilities

  • •Secure provincial and federal regulatory approvals for capital growth projects, including provincial permits and applicable environmental assessment approvals/notifications.
  • •Lead the development and execution of regulatory approvals and Indigenous/community engagement strategies aligned to project milestones.
  • •Prepare and submit high-quality permitting applications, coordinating internal expert, legal, and senior management reviews.
  • •Manage application review processes by coordinating responses to reviewer comments and negotiating draft permit conditions.
  • •Manage SERA budgets, schedule, scope, and risks; maintain a SERA risk register and report on permitting status, engagement progress, and mitigation actions.

Key Requirements

  • •Degree or diploma in a related field (e.g., environmental planning/science, natural resources) or an equivalent education and experience combination.
  • •Minimum 10 years leading regulatory aspects of complex major capital projects in an industrial environment with major permitting and/or environmental assessment processes.
  • •Knowledge and experience with permitting in British Columbia under the Environmental Management Act, Water Sustainability Act, and Environmental Assessment Act.
  • •Experience with meaningful Indigenous Nations and regulatory/community engagement and consultation.
  • •Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
