Key Responsibilities

•Own end-to-end implementation of major features, from design spec through merged code to production validation.
•Contribute upstream to Apache Ozone for shared components.
•Build a Kubernetes-native test suite with S3 conformance, EC fault injection via pod eviction, decommission/maintenance mode flows, and bit rot detection.
•Mentor engineers across Rust, Go, and Java, connecting layers across the stack.
•Run rigorous technical reviews and set failure-mode and architectural decision standards while pushing back on scope creep and hidden complexity.

Key Requirements

•8+ years building production distributed systems, including at least 3 years at the Staff level (or equivalent), owning systems through architecture, implementation, on-call, and customer escalations.
•Deep expertise in at least two of: Rust, Go, Java, with shipped non-trivial code across multiple languages.
•Strong storage/distributed systems background including consensus protocols (Raft, Paxos) and erasure coding tradeoffs (latency, durability, overhead).
•Production Kubernetes experience building operators and debugging controller reconciliation, networking issues across CNI/Istio, and real system behavior.
•Track record of technical leadership through authored design specs, durable architectural decisions, and PR feedback that measurably improves code.
