Key Responsibilities

•Lead communications across Australia and New Zealand: own the strategy for how Canva shows up across these markets, shaping the direction, setting priorities, and driving a drumbeat of product, technology, corporate, and consumer storytelling.
•Build trusted relationships with Australia and New Zealand journalists and editors to ensure Canva remains top of mind through proactive engagement and long‑term partnerships.
•Activate Canva’s biggest global launches and campaigns locally, shaping local strategy and opportunities and ensuring messaging lands with relevance and impact.
•Drive a year‑round communications program across earned, owned and experiential channels, identifying newsworthy stories and timely moments to keep Canva visible and relevant.
•Support leadership communications and internal communications by partnering with Canva leaders on events, speaking engagements, internal updates and employee communications.

Key Requirements

•Extensive communications experience across Australia and New Zealand with a track record of leading high‑impact programs and securing coverage in top‑tier media outlets.
•Deep understanding of the Australian and New Zealand media landscape across technology, AI, business, consumer and culture, with a strong network of journalists, editors and influencers.
•Exceptional writing and storytelling skills across formats and audiences (media pitches, press releases, spokesperson briefings, executive communications, reactive statements, internal updates).
•Experience partnering with senior leaders and spokespeople to prepare for media engagements, keynote presentations, customer events and thought leadership opportunities.
•Ability to operate in fast‑moving environments, take ownership from strategy through execution, and bring clarity to ambiguous situations.
