Job Summary

Identify, analyze, and control occupational hazards while promoting workplace and product safety by applying engineering principles and EHS laws. Assist with designing protective equipment and updating machinery and plant equipment to eliminate hazards. Lead moderately complex, multi-disciplinary EHS projects, maintain compliance with current policies and regulations, and support safety features that reduce employees’ exposure to chemical, physical, and biological hazards. Investigate accidents and review safety in construction plans.

Key Responsibilities

•With some direction, identify, analyze, and control occupational hazards to promote worksite or product safety using industrial health and safety and environmental laws.
•Assist in designing protective equipment or safety devices and in redesigning machines and plant equipment to eliminate occupational hazards.
•Review occupational safety policies, guidelines, and standards for consistency with engineering principles and recommend technical changes.
•Participate in moderately complex, multi-disciplinary project teams to design and implement EHS related projects, including technical project management.
•Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine root cause and preventative measures; review plans/specifications for new equipment, and report/review findings from investigations, inspections, or environmental testing.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma with 7-9 years of experience, an associate’s degree with 5-8 years, or a four-year degree in a related safety science field or engineering with 4 years of experience.
•Preferred professional certifications such as CSP or CIH.
•Demonstrated experience leading moderately complex, multi-disciplinary project teams and delivering results on plan and within budget.
•Demonstrated experience leading moderately complex multi-disciplinary EHS projects.
•Experience with areas such as air pollutant sampling, air pump sampling, respirator fit testing, and knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal laws.
