Key Responsibilities

  • •Troubleshoot network equipment, replace defective components, and coordinate with resources to isolate and restore network service.
  • •Perform installation/change/decommission and testing of network technologies, including Edge Compute, Wavelength services, Fiber Optic Transport, Ethernet, SONET, and IP network layers.
  • •Install and test network and customer equipment (CPE) to support end-user service delivery.
  • •Manage outside plant network work within geographic boundaries, including fiber locating, marking/protection, and accurate field documentation.
  • •Conduct level 1 preventive maintenance and inspections on network and critical infrastructure equipment, and maintain inventory records, tools, and equipment.

Key Requirements

  • •2+ years experience installing, testing, and turning up telecommunication equipment, including SONET, DCS, DWDM, routers, and switches.
  • •Strong technical and mechanical background with experience on transport gear and critical infrastructure (HVAC systems, high-voltage electrical systems, DC power plants).
  • •Experience with at least two technician disciplines: Transmission (DS1/DS3/SONET), Switching (circuit-switching/SS7), TCP/IP, and Outside Plant (fiber locating, OTDR, Mass Fusion Splicing).
  • •Ability to locate, mark, and protect underground outside plant facilities accurately using industry standard methods and tools.
  • •A valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record; high school diploma or GED required.
