Key Responsibilities

  • •Work with research, product management, product engineering, and design to define the first version and future evolution of AI interfaces for MongoDB.
  • •Design, build, and deliver well-tested core platform components including the MongoDB MCP Server, Agent Skills, the Intelligent Assistant Platform, and purpose-built agents.
  • •Own ambiguous problems end to end independently, making pragmatic decisions as requirements evolve.
  • •Contribute to architecture, code reviews, and development practices to improve developer experience as the team grows.
  • •Mentor fellow engineers and take accountability for high-visibility projects, including participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation.

Key Requirements

  • •5+ years building backend systems, primarily in Node.js and TypeScript, with interest in working across a polyglot codebase.
  • •Strong background designing scalable, high-availability web applications and services.
  • •Proven ability to design, write, test, debug, and performance-tune software in large, long-lived code bases.
  • •Track record delivering complex projects independently with minimal guidance, including handling ambiguous problems.
  • •Product-minded judgment and strong verbal and written technical communication.
