Job Summary

Review and validate contractors’ technical deliverables for underground rockworks on major tunnel and metro projects, including calculation reports and construction drawings. Perform independent design verifications (back-checks) for rock mechanics and underground structures, analyze rock mass behavior and ground movements, and support excavation and ground support activities. Coordinate geotechnical, geological, and structural inputs, evaluate engineering change requests and directives, and help develop ground support technical specifications.

•Review, comment on, and validate contractors’ technical deliverables, including calculation reports and construction drawings.
•Perform independent design verifications (back-checks) for engineering work related to rock mechanics and underground structures.
•Provide technical support during excavation and ground support activities and help resolve construction-related issues.
•Analyze rock mass behavior and ground movements, and review associated technical reports.
•Coordinate geotechnical, geological, and structural engineering inputs, evaluate change requests/Engineering Directives, and support technical meetings and specification development.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: CAD 80,000 - 110,000 annually

Key Requirements

•University degree in a related field.
•More than 4 years of experience in designing, constructing, or operating tunnels excavated using Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs).
•Strong understanding of geotechnical and structural engineering principles as applied to tunneling projects.
•Experience reviewing and validating technical deliverables, including calculation reports, drawings, and technical reports.
•Ability to coordinate and communicate with multiple disciplines and project teams; proficiency with relevant engineering software and computer applications.
