Key Responsibilities

•Sample asphalt product to ensure it meets required tests.
•Coordinate daily/weekly scheduling with management, plant personnel, crew members, and Department of Transportation inspectors for samples and mix designs.
•Partner with other staff reporting to the Quality Control Manager to ensure quality control specifications are met and support daily production schedules/estimates.
•Evaluate test results and address problems when they arise, while preparing and submitting documentation to Quality Control personnel.
•Maintain safety standards and PPE compliance, manage attendance expectations, and handle schedule/location changes including overtime and possible out-of-town/county/state work.

Key Requirements

•Have a clear understanding of asphalt procedures/production and how to evaluate test results and address issues.
•Must be self-motivated and able to partner with Quality Control Manager to meet quality control specifications and daily production schedules/estimates.
•Prepare and submit proper documentation to the appropriate Quality Control personnel and maintain ethical behavior and safety standards per company and OSHA guidelines.
•Hold required certifications (VDOT Asphalt Plant Technician; VA Asphalt Lab Certifications Level 1 and 2) and meet physical/job requirements (PPE adherence, lift/carry 50 lbs, drug test and criminal background check).
