Job Summary

Research Scientists on Ai2’s Robotics Team tackle core problems in foundation models for robotics, conducting large-scale simulation experiments and real-world robot testing. You’ll lead projects, mentor interns and pre-doctoral researchers, publish in top venues, and collaborate with AI2 teams and external partners, aiming for breakthrough results in open, impact-driven robotics research.

Key Responsibilities

•Develop and investigate core research problems in foundation models for robotics, contributing open methods, data sets, benchmarks, and models.
•Experiment with large-scale simulation tools and real-world robots, exploring sim-to-real transfer and skill learning.
•Lead projects, mentor interns and pre-doctoral candidates, and publish scientific papers; collaborate with researchers at other organizations and universities.
•Collaborate with AI2 teams including computer vision and language models, and engage with external research communities to advance open-source contributions.
•Contribute to the broader Ai2 mission by pursuing ambitious, team-based research and sharing findings with the community.

Key Requirements

•PhD-level foundation in robot manipulation, planning and control, RL/imitation learning, real-world robot systems, simulation environments, sim-to-real, or world models/foundation models.
•Strong publication record in AI/robotics (e.g., CoRL, ICRA, RSS, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML); contributions to research communities are a plus.
•Strong software engineering skills; experience with real robot systems and deep learning frameworks.
