Job Summary

Design and develop ByteDance recommendation system architecture that delivers stable, high-availability online services and efficient offline data processing. Tackle strategy management, adaptive tuning and fault diagnosis, cost-efficiency tradeoffs for generative recommendation, cross-domain heterogeneous data processing, and data storage/quality engineering. Build multimodal heterogeneous computing frameworks and improve large-scale model efficiency through architecture-algorithm co-design, using a Python-centered developer ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

•Design and develop recommendation system architecture for ByteDance products, ensuring stability, high availability, and optimized performance for online services and offline data streams.
•Create strategy management and optimization capabilities, including standardized recommendation strategy definitions, offline evaluation, and retirement of ineffective strategies.
•Build adaptive tuning and fault diagnosis solutions to optimize system parameters/configurations and support fault tracking, localization, and analysis.
•Engineer low-cost, high-performance storage and data quality mechanisms, including flexible schema evolution, high-concurrency real-time writing, and training-inference consistency.
•Construct a multimodal heterogeneous computing framework and co-design architecture and algorithms to improve large-scale recommendation model efficiency under cost constraints.

Key Requirements

•PhD degree.
•Strong foundation in machine learning; familiarity with models such as decision trees and support vector machines; ability to build, train, and optimize ML models.
•Excellent programming skills with strong data structures and algorithms; proficiency in C/C++ for traditional coding roles or Python for intelligent coding roles.
•Ability to use languages to implement complex algorithms and build iterative models with an engineering mindset balancing performance and cost.
•Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with algorithm engineers, data analysts, and product managers to drive innovation in e-commerce generative recommendation systems.
