Key Responsibilities

  • •Take overall command and responsibility for safe, efficient, and economical operation of the trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD).
  • •Plan and execute dredging campaigns and safe navigation during steaming, dredging, loading, sailing, disposal, and reclamation operations.
  • •Ensure effective execution of trailing operations (vessel speed, heading, track, UKC, dredging pattern) and monitor hopper loading, draft, trim, stability, and loading limits.
  • •Supervise dredging/navigation systems and comply with dredging permits, disposal-area requirements, port/VTS instructions, and COLREGs/SOLAS/MARPOL/ISM requirements.
  • •Lead emergency response and drills, maintain vessel records, coordinate with port authorities and project/client teams, and ensure maintenance is scheduled, verified, and defects/incidents are reported.

Key Requirements

  • •Valid COC and endorsements, Class 1 Master.
  • •Valid GMDSS and other STCW certificates.
  • •Hold a valid statutory license issued by the flag authority for specific onboard duties.
  • •Be familiar with SMS (safety management system) and ISPS.
  • •10 years experience onboard Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger.
