Key Responsibilities

•Diagnoses and treats patients according to established standards of best practice for the post holder’s specialty.
•Oversees the clinical activities of the junior medical staff and is assumes responsibility for the care they provide
•Complies with all established hospital polices regarding admissions, consultations, daily patient care, surgical procedures, discharge protocols, outpatient and follow up practices
•Practices appropriate utilization of the organization’s resources
•Leads ward round; reassesses both inpatients and outpatients on a regular basis, in line with established best practice
•Accurately documents all relevant clinical information in a clear and timely fashion in accordance with established procedures
•Regularly reviews results of all investigations and modifies treatment as required
•Liaises with other medical specialties and support services for additional input as required
•Actively participates in multi-disciplinary meetings to help plan effective, safe and holistic care for individual patients
•Ensures preparation of patients for all procedures including obtaining informed consent
•Accepts clinically appropriate referrals from the Emergency Department, primary care, other departments, specialty clinics, walk in patients, and patients referred from other hospitals

Key Requirements

•Qualification from Tier 1
•Qualification from Tier 2
•Current national license or equivalent
•Certified proof of yearly CME
•Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) and specialization in Gastroenterology
•American Board, CCT UK, Australian Board, any Western Board, Fellowship or additional certification in Gastroenterology
•Minimum of 5 years of post-specialization experience in Gastroenterology
•Valid DOH (Department of Health - Abu Dhabi) License or eligibility
•Experience working within JCI-accredited hospitals is preferred
