Job Summary

Field Engineer role with WSP in Herndon, VA. You will support the Construction Area Resident Engineer, Construction Manager and field inspection staff on owners rep program management, monitor construction activities for compliance with contract plans/specifications, environmental permit conditions, and standards; conduct daily inspections; assist with testing and quality documentation; and collaborate with program management and design/build teams to implement oversight, logging progress, and maintain schedules.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide technical support to Construction Area Resident Engineer, Construction Manager and field inspection staff providing owners rep program management services.
•Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with: contract plans and specifications, FRA, Amtrak, CSX, and VRE standards, and environmental permit conditions.
•Conduct daily inspections of work in place (concrete pours, rebar placement, foundations, trackwork, etc.).
•Support required testing and quality documentation.
•Interface with engineers to evaluate Field Design Changes, Non Conformance Reports and Requests for Information.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field or equivalent
•3-5 years of experience in construction of Class 1 Rail projects or similar infrastructure
•Proven experience with concrete and steel structures
•Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and repair procedures, and provide guidance to maintenance crews on document interpretation
•Ability to identify and address safety and quality concerns; and coordination with maintenance staff, effective communication and interpersonal skills
