Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead negotiations on data rights across client and partner agreements, including BAAs, DPAs, data use/share agreements, AI use and training, retention/deletion, and data-related IP rights.
  • •Run the day-to-day Privacy Program under the Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer, covering HIPAA and state privacy/consumer health data requirements, consents, consumer rights, incidents, breaches, notifications, and regulator inquiries.
  • •Administer and evolve the AI governance program, including interpretation of federal and state AI laws, governance committee/framework, policies/approvals, AI inventory and risk assessments, responsible AI controls, and regulatory change management.
  • •Translate data governance legal requirements into practical policies, controls, procedures, and implementation plans for collection/use/sharing, AI use, retention/de-identification/deletion, disclosure, residency, and cross-border transfers.
  • •Build and maintain the operational systems and controls for governance (data maps/processing records, data classification, contractual obligation repositories, evidence of compliance, retention/disposal), including vendor and third-party reviews; monitor, audit, and remediate risks and incidents.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 204,000 - 226,000 annually

Key Requirements

  • •8+ years of legal experience with substantial healthcare regulatory, privacy, and compliance experience in a HIPAA-regulated organization.
  • •Healthcare experience is required.
  • •Lead complex negotiations on data rights with enterprise clients and partners, including data use, ownership, AI rights, secondary use, retention, deletion, and de-identification.
  • •Operate healthcare privacy and compliance programs, including regulatory interpretation, incident and breach response, risk assessment, monitoring, auditing, corrective actions, and remediation.
  • •Active license to practice law and membership in good standing with a U.S. state bar.
