Key Responsibilities

  • •Own the engineering roadmap—deciding what to build, defer, and kill.
  • •Set technical direction and architecture across frontend, backend, data pipelines, and lab-hardware integration.
  • •Ship code yourself on the highest-leverage problems rather than only reviewing.
  • •Hire, grow, and raise the team’s bar for speed and quality so lab software reliability stays high.
  • •Build AI-assisted development practices to create a genuine speed advantage for the team.

Key Requirements

  • •Have shipped production software for years and still want to build hands-on while leading.
  • •Have built and grown teams by hiring, managing, and developing engineers in a startup or high-growth environment.
  • •Own (or significantly shape) an engineering roadmap, making pragmatic build/kill/defer decisions to prevent scope creep.
  • •Make strong architectural decisions across frontend, backend, data, and infrastructure, knowing when to go deep versus delegate.
  • •Build and use AI agents/coding tools as a force multiplier, with a point of view on how they change team workflow and structure.
