Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide high-level technical assistance and guidance for transmission and distribution substation design, including substantiation of reports and documentation for specifications.
  • •Coordinate, review, and approve substation electrical design plans and ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and utility requirements.
  • •Apply electrical engineering techniques across project phases, performing complex electrical engineering work for substation physical layout and protection & control design.
  • •Review electrical calculations for loads, equipment sizing, grounding, short-circuit studies, protective device coordination, and related substation analyses.
  • •Oversee and monitor cross-functional teams and deliverables (QA/QC, budgets, schedules, and technical calculations), and prepare technical reports and presentations for stakeholders.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • •7 to 10 years of relevant post-education experience delivering electrical design for transmission and distribution substations.
  • •Professional Engineer (PE) license and proficiency in electrical engineering principles, practices, and processes for design/build delivery.
  • •Demonstrated substation physical design and/or protection and control (P&C) engineering experience, including advanced electrical calculations and design deliverable review.
  • •Experience using technical writing and design software (e.g., AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical/MicroStation) with familiarity with Aspen, CAPE, or ETAP.
