Job Summary

Support power testing and energization (PTE) projects by performing protection and control testing and commissioning work on high-voltage substations. Execute hands-on protective relay testing, calibrations, control-scheme testing, and CT/PT circuit checks using industry standards and specialized relay test sets. Document activities with field forms and digital tools, participate in safety briefings, mentor junior technicians, and coordinate with field leadership and subcontractors across multiple job sites.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform protection and control testing and commissioning tasks on high-voltage substations.
•Conduct on-site protective relay testing and calibration using relay test sets, and test protection schemes and sensing CT/PT circuits.
•Document site activities using field forms, digital data tools, and mobile applications, maintaining logs and photo documentation.
•Participate in daily safety briefings and follow health and safety protocols across active job sites.
•Support project leadership by escalating technical issues, assisting with subcontractor monitoring, and mentoring less experienced technicians.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or equivalent.
•Minimum of 7 years of experience in the electrical testing industry, including medium/high-voltage circuit breakers, power transformers, instrument transformers, and substation protection and controls testing.
•Expertise with transmission, generation, and distribution relays (SEL, Basler, Beckwith, and GE families) and protective schemes.
•Skills in protective relay calibration and testing using relay test sets such as Omicron CMC 256/356 and Doble F6150, including control scheme and CT/PT sensing circuit testing.
•Experience with electrical field testing standards and procedures (NETA, IEEE, NFPA) and the ability to read electrical drawings.
