Key Responsibilities

  • •Perform documentation and inspection for MDOT and other DOT/municipal construction projects across railroads, roadways, bridges, traffic signals, underground infrastructure, and ITS.
  • •Collect, compile, and analyze field and design data (e.g., surveys, structural plans, blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, material sampling) to support single- or multi-phase inspections.
  • •Conduct phased, follow-up, and final comprehensive inspections and provide written/oral feedback on findings.
  • •Verify load calculations, interpret contract plans/specifications, resolve differences, and support contract compliance and quality control monitoring.
  • •Write technical reports summarizing inspection findings and assist with inspection planning, contractor coordination, and guidance/training for inspection staff.

Key Requirements

  • •Minimum of 11 years of relevant post-education experience in construction inspection, with prior construction inspection experience.
  • •Advanced knowledge of construction inspection principles and field inspection practices, including documentation and record-keeping.
  • •Advanced knowledge of relevant construction codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
  • •Ability to perform technical computations and calculations, interpret plans and specifications, and compare findings to applicable standards.
