Key Responsibilities

  • •Support virology aspects of an EPSRC-funded project on polymers as antivirals, including relevant research activities.
  • •Assist in managing and supporting experimental Class I and Class II biological laboratories within the School of Chemistry.
  • •Advise researchers and/or students on techniques and experimental procedures, and troubleshoot and resolve problems with suggested solutions.
  • •Carry out specialist technical and experimental procedures using judgment, obtain PI approval for proposed changes, and maintain accurate records.
  • •Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and laboratory operating procedures, including health and safety, classification/labeling/packaging, waste disposal, and equipment training/maintenance.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: GBP 35,608

Key Requirements

  • •Previous knowledge of virology and associated techniques is essential.
  • •Educated to degree level (or equivalent qualifications) or relevant technical qualification, or extensive proven practical and technical experience in a similar role.
  • •Extensive proven practical experience in a relevant scientific, technical or IT specialism.
  • •Evidence of literacy and numeracy, with the ability to write clearly and analyse information and data.
  • •Knowledge of the protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010 and how to ensure they are treated equally and fairly in day-to-day work.
