Job Summary

Build and improve machine learning algorithms powering TikTok’s Core Feed Recommendation system, with a focus on user acquisition and retention. Key Responsibilities

•Implement machine learning algorithms at large scale to improve new user acquisition efficiency and enhance user retention signals across ranking phases such as retrieval, ranking, and re-ranking.
•Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, data scientists, and product engineers to formulate problems, design and refine machine learning algorithms, and communicate results.
•Run regular A/B tests, analyze outcomes, and iterate algorithms accordingly.
•Maintain an end-to-end understanding of machine learning systems and work with infrastructure teams to improve efficiency and stability.

Key Requirements

•Hands-on experience in one or more areas such as recommender systems, machine learning, deep learning, pattern recognition, data mining, computer vision, NLP, causal inference, content understanding, or multimodal machine learning.
•Strong programming skills in Python and/or C/C++ with a deep understanding of data structures and algorithms.
•Familiarity with the architecture and implementation of at least one mainstream machine learning framework (TensorFlow/PyTorch/MXNet).
•Good communication and teamwork skills, with a passion for learning new techniques and taking on challenging problems.
•Prior industry experience with components of recommendation systems (e.g., retrieval, ranking, re-ranking, cold-start) is a plus.
