Key Responsibilities

  • •Investigate arbitration cases thoroughly, providing background information and evidence, and conduct internal audits of the customer complaint journey.
  • •Assess external arbitration outcomes and ensure legally binding decisions are supported by evidence submitted in Japanese and English.
  • •Serve as a subject matter expert for Japanese regulatory frameworks while supporting broader APAC dispute resolution trends and changes.
  • •Build cross-functional relationships to translate arbitration insights into actionable policy and process improvements; contribute to root-cause analysis.
  • •Handle cases within Wise’s SLAs, defend against adverse decisions to protect reputation, and support scam/deactivation complaints knowledge.

Key Requirements

  • •At least 12 months of experience in dispute resolution, regulatory operations, or high-tier complaints handling.
  • •12–24 months in a Financial Ombudsman office, regulatory body, Tokyo Bar Association (TBA) ADR scheme, bank, or FinTech handling dispute resolution, legal claims, customer escalations, or regulatory compliance in Japan and/or APAC.
  • •Impeccable written and spoken English and high-level/native written and spoken Japanese to manage filings, case notes, customer communications, and legal dispute proceedings.
  • •Strong ability to work autonomously under high pressure as the sole Arbitration Specialist in Tokyo.
  • •Strong analytical mindset and comfort using data/BI tooling; Lightdash and SQL are preferred.
