Key Responsibilities

  • •Develop and design data center heat rejection and HVAC systems, including cooling requirements, airflow management, humidity control, redundancy, maintainability, and standards compliance.
  • •Select appropriate data center cooling systems (e.g., fan wall units, CRAHs, chilled water, DX, CRAC, in-row cooling, and containment solutions) based on specific requirements and criticality.
  • •Conduct internal and external CFD simulations to optimize airflow distribution, identify hotspots, and recommend design modifications; coordinate impacts with other trades.
  • •Design redundancy and fault-tolerant HVAC features (backup cooling, automatic switchover, and monitoring) to maintain continuous operation.
  • •Perform heat load calculations and capacity planning for current and future growth, and implement energy-efficient and sustainable HVAC strategies (e.g., economizers, VFDs, energy recovery).

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor's Degree with 6+ years of relevant experience (or demonstrated equivalency).
  • •Experience in data center mechanical and electrical equipment installation and operation.
  • •P.E. registration is required.
  • •Knowledge of data center TER Standard Topology (Uptime Institute), TIA 942, and ANSI/BICSI 002.
  • •Preferred: HVAC engineering/energy management advanced coursework; certifications such as CEM, BEMP, or LEED accreditation.
