Own and manage Fuse Energy’s ~180-strong mixed van fleet and expanding HGV operation from the Kings Norton warehouse in Birmingham. Ensure roadworthiness, safety, and legal compliance by acting as the nominated Transport Manager on the Operator Licence, covering drivers’ hours, tachographs, checks, and scheduled maintenance. Manage servicing, MOT, repairs, records, and fleet running costs (leasing, fuel, insurance, tyres, parts), while handling insurance renewals and claims.

Key Responsibilities

•Manage day-to-day operations of a mixed fleet (~180 vans plus HGVs as added), keeping vehicles roadworthy and available.
•Act as the nominated Transport Manager on the Operator Licence, ensuring legal responsibility for HGV compliance including drivers' hours, tachographs, walkaround checks, and maintenance/inspections.
•Plan and coordinate servicing, maintenance, MOT, and repair schedules to minimise downtime with garages and service providers.
•Maintain full compliance with UK fleet, Operator Licence, and road safety regulations, keeping accurate vehicle records.
•Control fleet running costs (leasing, fuel, insurance, tyres, parts) and manage insurance renewals and accident/incident claims through resolution, supporting safety culture and duty of care.

Key Requirements

•Transport Manager CPC (road haulage/HGV) and legally being named on the Operator Licence for vehicles over 3.5t.
•Minimum 3 years managing a sizeable mixed van/HGV fleet (ideally 100+ vehicles).
•Demonstrated experience as a nominated Transport Manager with strong knowledge of Operator Licence obligations, drivers' hours, tachographs, and HGV maintenance regimes.
•Strong working knowledge of UK fleet compliance for sub-3.5t vehicles (MOT, servicing, roadworthiness, and duty of care).
•Confident using fleet management software and telematics, with strong organisation, communication, and attention to detail (full UK driving licence; HGV entitlement a plus).
