Job Summary

We are seeking a General Practitioner to deliver primary medical care within a Defence healthcare setting, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to support health and wellbeing of Defence personnel. You’ll assess fitness for duty, provide medical advice to leadership, and work in either outpatient or inpatient wards at Lavarack Health Centre, Townsville, contributing to Defence-ready clinical services.

Key Responsibilities

•Deliver primary medical care to patients in accordance with professional standards, legislation, and Defence Policies and Procedures.
•Be part of a multidisciplinary team working toward the health and wellbeing of Defence members.
•Assess Defence personnel for fitness for duty and provide care pre- and post deployment.
•Provide medical technical advice to the Joint Health Unit (JHU) CO, JHC Health Centre Manager and unit Commanders.
•Work with a team of Senior Medical Officers and uniformed colleagues, in either outpatient or inpatient ward settings.

Key Requirements

•Current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Medical Practitioner, General in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
•Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) OR Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) OR Vocational Registration.
•Minimum of 2 years full-time post graduate general practitioner experience in a general practice setting within the last 5 years (or part-time equivalent).
•Recent participation in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities in accordance with AHPRA.
•Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) certification.
