Job Summary

Join WSP’s Geotechnics and Tunnelling team as a Tunnelling Engineer (or Senior Tunnelling Engineer), working across projects from feasibility through construction. You’ll produce and check tunnelling deliverables (reports, calculations, drawings), collaborate with a multidisciplinary team on micro-tunnels and major road/rail schemes, manage project work and resources, support staff mentoring, and help win business through technical proposals.

Key Responsibilities

•Produce and check engineering deliverables, including reports, presentations, design calculations, and drawings for below-ground construction.
•Work with tunnelling and geotechnical engineers across projects from micro-tunnels and trenchless solutions to major road and rail schemes.
•Effectively manage and deliver project work.
•Contribute to managing team resources and allocating appropriate project resources.
•Support staff mentoring and provide delivery support including client liaison, contractors/sub-consultants, consultation, and quality control; assist with technical proposal preparation.

Key Requirements

•Technical expertise in civil/structural and geotechnical engineering as applied to tunnelling schemes.
•Experience delivering tunnelling or underground projects with multidisciplinary design input and high-quality technical deliverables.
•A degree in Engineering Geology, Civil Engineering, or Structural Engineering.
•Chartered or near chartered status, or equivalent registration, with a relevant professional institution.
•Experience working with Eurocodes and other design standards.
