Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide regulatory risk review and practical solutions across banking operations and IT-related processes, including new product/service launches and material change activities.
  • •Deliver timely, well-grounded Compliance Opinions based on Korean laws/regulations and HSBC internal control standards.
  • •Advise on AI-enabled and data-driven changes, ensuring alignment with Korean regulatory expectations and applicable model/data governance requirements.
  • •Assess technology-related regulatory and conduct risks (e.g., explainability, bias/fairness, data privacy, outsourcing/third-party risk, auditability) and propose pragmatic controls with clear approval/reporting/escalation pathways.
  • •Own engagement with supervisory authorities (FSS, FSC and others), including regulatory filings, licensing matters, responses to examinations, and examination/audit support.

Key Requirements

  • •Deep, interpretive understanding of the Korean financial regulatory framework (e.g., Banking Act, Personal Information Protection Act, Credit Information Act, outsourcing regulations).
  • •Ability to engage supervisory authorities credibly and constructively, including regulatory filings and responses to examinations.
  • •Pragmatic, solutions-oriented advisory mindset that enables safe and compliant business progress.
  • •Business-level English and professional Korean for interpreting local regulation and producing high-quality written compliance opinions.
  • •AI/tech literacy to translate AI-driven and data-driven solutions into practical, implementable compliance controls, including data privacy and model-related governance considerations.
