Key Responsibilities

  • •Install, splice, and test fiber optic and copper cables for projects, maintenance, and emergency repairs.
  • •Perform dark fiber, reel, continuity, and conformance testing using industry-standard equipment such as OTDR and T-Berd.
  • •Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair existing fiber and copper networks by locating and resolving faults to ensure service continuity.
  • •Install, configure, and enable residential and small business telecommunication services including POTS, HSI, VDSL, FTTH, and networking.
  • •Read service orders and technical drawings/diagrams/maps, coordinate testing with test centers or designated personnel, document results, and update service orders and billing information.

Key Requirements

  • •Must be able to work varying shifts including possible mandatory overtime, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed.
  • •Valid state driver’s license with satisfactory driving record; may require compliance with DOT drive qualification regulations and possible drug and alcohol testing.
  • •Experience splicing fiber optic cables and handling fiber optic infrastructure such as underground innerduct, splice cases, and terminal fiber optics equipment.
  • •Experience handling large multi-pair copper telecommunication cables, including identifying pairs/groups and splicing, sealing, and weatherproofing.
  • •Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to solve problems involving physically broken cases, cabinets, racks, and other infrastructure.
