Job Summary

Design and operate scalable proxy and traffic service deployments that support complex routing, protocol handling, and access control for ByteDance’s global (non-China) infrastructure. Partner with stakeholders to translate forwarding needs into deployable architectures, prototype and iterate quickly, and build observability pipelines for logs, metrics, and traffic telemetry. Own incident triage for traffic services and document reusable patterns to accelerate future delivery.

Key Responsibilities

•Design, configure, and maintain flexible proxy service deployments for evolving forwarding patterns, including routing rules, protocol handling, and access control.
•Work with business stakeholders to understand traffic forwarding requirements and translate them into practical proxy service solutions using cloud products and in-house platforms.
•Rapidly prototype and iterate on traffic solutions, prioritizing deployment efficiency and time-to-value.
•Build and maintain observability pipelines for log collection, metrics aggregation, and traffic usage analysis to provide actionable insights.
•Triage online incidents and business inquiries for traffic services, coordinate resolution, communicate status to stakeholders, and document reusable solution patterns.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.
•Strong understanding of OSI Layer 4–7 protocols including TCP/UDP, HTTP/1.1 & HTTP/2, TLS, DNS, and WebSocket.
•Hands-on experience with forward and reverse proxy mechanisms and tools such as Nginx, Envoy, HAProxy, or equivalents.
•Strong troubleshooting across the network and application stack, including DNS resolution, load balancing, TLS handshakes, and application-layer failures.
•Clear communication with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, supporting cross-functional and cross-regional collaboration.
