Job Summary

Lead Airwallex Netherlands’ Financial Crime Compliance function as MLRO, owning the local AML/CTF/Sanctions programme in line with Wwft and EU AML Directives. Serve as the primary liaison to Dutch regulators and FIU-Nederland, oversee Unusual Transaction Report (UTR) identification and filings, and provide strategic advice on high-risk client onboarding and new product launches. Key Responsibilities

•Act as the designated MLRO for the Netherlands and liaison with DNB, FIU-Nederland, and relevant authorities.
•Design and maintain the local AML/CTF/Sanctions compliance framework aligned to Dutch requirements and Airwallex global standards (including EU 6AMLD and EBA guidelines).
•Oversee identification, review, and submission of Unusual Transaction Reports (UTRs) to FIU-Nederland, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
•Provide high-level guidance on onboarding complex high-risk clients and launching new products in the Dutch market, ensuring appropriate controls for regulators and banking partners.
•Lead local FCC governance and board reporting, and drive responses to DNB inspections, internal audits, and independent AML reviews with remediation/control uplift initiatives.

Key Requirements

•8+ years of financial crime compliance experience, including at least 2 years in a senior leadership or MLRO/Deputy MLRO capacity within a regulated institution or fintech.
•Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business, or a related field.
•Expert-level knowledge of Dutch AML/CTF legislation, including Wwft and Sanctiewet 1977, plus EU AML Directives and DNB supervisory expectations.
•Demonstrated auditing or assurance background and experience engaging with Dutch or EU-level regulators.
•Proven ability to manage end-to-end investigation workflows and make final determinations on UTR filings (with strong stakeholder management).
