Manage and coordinate production for assigned swine units across contract growers, driving financial and production performance while overseeing property and personnel management. Implement biosecurity, animal welfare, and environmental management system requirements; evaluate farm performance and develop improvement plans. Inspect animals, prescribe medication as necessary, monitor animal movement schedules, support market sales closeout processes, and coach farm managers and employees to improve production and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

•Manage and coordinate production of all assigned swine units, including financial performance, production performance, property management, and personnel management.
•Implement biosecurity policies and procedures; follow the Smithfield Injury Prevention System (SIPS) management system requirements.
•Follow animal welfare policies and procedures, including providing appropriate environments, feed and water, humane treatment, and identification/treatment (including euthanasia guidelines).
•Evaluate farm performance, outline improvement plans and timelines, and inspect animals for disease/injury while prescribing medication as necessary.
•Oversee market sales performance and closeout information, monitor animal movement schedules, participate in EMS compliance, and report environmental issues to supervision.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science (or related field) and 2+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent education/experience).
•Experience leading by training, coaching, or mentoring others, including managing a process or project.
•Must have a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
•Completion of Prod Spec 1 program or 2 years swine experience (preferred).
•Ability to work an average 45-hour week with a 9-hour workday and be available for weekends/evenings/holidays and on-call emergency situations.
