Job Summary

Build distributed systems and reliability frameworks for the Whatnot platform’s Infrastructure Reliability Engineering team. Design and operate traffic control mechanisms, load and chaos testing infrastructure, and systems for SLO/SLI and error budget-driven reliability tradeoffs. Develop tooling to improve incident detection, response, and automated mitigation, and review service architectures for failure modes, scalability limits, and operational safety. Partner closely with product, platform, and infrastructure teams.

Key Responsibilities

•Build distributed systems, services, and frameworks to make reliability a built-in property of the platform.
•Design and operate traffic control mechanisms (circuit breakers, rate limiting, admission control, backpressure, graceful degradation).
•Build and evolve load testing frameworks to validate behavior under sustained, burst, and peak traffic.
•Build chaos and resilience testing infrastructure to surface failure modes and validate recovery.
•Develop tooling to improve incident detection, response, and automated mitigation, and drive systemic fixes.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: PLN 520,000 - 580,000 annually

Key Requirements

•5+ years designing and building large-scale distributed systems, with preferred experience in Python, Elixir, or Go (or strong engineers from other backend stacks willing to learn).
•Strong fundamentals in designing, building, and operating shared production services and frameworks.
•Experience with traffic control mechanisms such as circuit breakers and rate limiting.
•Hands-on experience with observability, monitoring, and debugging of production systems.
•Comfort working in cloud-native environments such as AWS or GCP with Kubernetes and infrastructure as code.
