Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead NPD quality planning using DFSS tools (e.g., DFMEA, statistical test plans, reliability testing) and identify CTQ characteristics in early design reviews.
  • •Coordinate first article inspections (FAI) and initial PPAP submissions; develop pre-launch control plans and process PFMEAs, including APQP deliverables before release.
  • •Monitor initial production runs and pilot builds; perform root-cause analysis for fit-up issues, scrap, and test failures, then implement corrective actions to reduce variability and improve first pass yield.
  • •Manage supplier quality during new product introduction: lead supplier APQP and support supplier PPAP/FAI approval, including site visits or audits when needed.
  • •Coordinate across design, manufacturing, and supply chain to embed quality at each stage and ensure smooth gate/stage approvals and post-launch handoff to plant quality personnel.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related) from an accredited university.
  • •3+ years of experience in quality engineering or a manufacturing engineering environment.
  • •Solid understanding of quality systems and tools such as FMEA, control plans, MSA, SPC, and 8D problem solving (ISO 9001 or similar).
  • •Familiarity with APQP/PPAP (or equivalent first-article processes) and working knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, welding, and assembly.
  • •Six Sigma Green Belt (or higher) or training in Design for Six Sigma; ability to apply statistical thinking and DFSS methodology to product development.
