Job Summary

Build and optimize AMD’s compiler stack for Neural Processing Units (NPUs), focusing on frontend and mid-end transformations for AI workloads. Develop compiler components and optimizations such as operator fusion, tiling, memory-layout transformations, scheduling, and code generation mapped to accelerator hardware. Use C++ and Python atop LLVM/MLIR and related open-source tooling, while collaborating with hardware architects, runtime teams, and ML framework teams to improve correctness, performance, and production readiness.

Key Responsibilities

•Design, develop, and maintain compiler components targeting AMD AI accelerators with emphasis on frontend and mid-end transformations.
•Implement and enhance compiler optimizations such as operator fusion, tiling, memory layout transformations, scheduling, and AI code generation support.
•Use C++ and Python to develop compiler passes, test infrastructure, and development tools on top of LLVM/MLIR.
•Analyze model and benchmark performance, debug compiler issues, and identify efficient workload-to-hardware mappings.
•Collaborate with hardware architects, runtime teams, and ML framework teams to improve compiler quality, correctness, and performance.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: EUR 78,680 - 112,400 annually

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s with 8+ years, Master’s with 6+ years, or PhD with 3+ years in compiler engineering, systems software, or performance-critical software development.
•Strong C++ and proficiency in Python.
•Understanding of compiler fundamentals including intermediate representations, optimization passes, code generation, and debugging.
•Experience with LLVM, MLIR, TVM, or similar compiler frameworks, including implementing compiler passes.
•Knowledge of hardware-aware software optimizations (memory hierarchy, data movement, threading, vectorization, or accelerator execution models).
