Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead HV substation technical discussions with clients and multidisciplinary teams, establishing scopes and interfaces for coordinated delivery.
  • •Direct technical delivery of substation design projects, agreeing approach, monitoring progress, and quality-checking deliverables before client issue.
  • •Apply lifecycle expertise across grid connection studies, concept design, FEED, and detailed design to deliver compliant HV substation schemes.
  • •Coordinate with project management on resourcing forecasts, programmes, and critical path milestones aligned to construction schedules.
  • •Champion safety in design, ensure compliance with relevant standards and operational safety requirements, and mentor junior engineers.

Key Requirements

  • •Previous experience delivering HV infrastructure design in the energy sector, including consultancy/contractor/utility experience in UK or Ireland.
  • •Proven experience delivering HV infrastructure design across concept, FEED, and detailed design stages.
  • •Strong knowledge of electrical AC HV plant and equipment (AIS and GIS), including switchgear, busbars, cabling, and earthing, plus civil interface understanding.
  • •Working knowledge of National Grid standards and specifications.
  • •Proposal/bid development experience leading multi-discipline submissions for data centre, HV infrastructure, or grid connection projects.
