Key Responsibilities

  • •Assist in the design of rail electrical systems including lighting, small power, earthing and bonding, points heating, traction power, and LV/HV distribution networks
  • •Support site surveys, condition assessments, and inspections to inform design decisions and compliance
  • •Use industry-leading software and BIM tools to produce drawings, models, and design documentation
  • •Collaborate with other disciplines (signalling, telecoms, civils) to integrate electrical designs into wider railway systems
  • •Contribute to planning and phasing of electrical construction and commissioning to minimise disruption, and ensure designs support sustainability and maintainability

Key Requirements

  • •BEng Electrical Engineering with a 2:1 classification (or equivalent) or above
  • •Demonstrate a good technical understanding of Rail/Electrical Engineering
  • •Willing and able to work towards chartership with the IET
  • •Good Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • •Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with internal and external stakeholders
