Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead projects from concept to rollout, including design, delivery, operations, and customer follow-up.
  • •Design, build, and operate core distributed database components (ingestion, storage, and query) with trade-offs across performance, cost, and complexity.
  • •Own outcomes against concrete SLOs and unit cost targets while reducing toil via automation and improving on-call quality.
  • •Collaborate across Grafana squads (App Observability, Alloy, Tempo, and other Databases squads) to make profiles useful across engineer workflows.
  • •Participate in EMEA on-call for the services you build and contribute to Pyroscope open source via community engagement and reviews.

Key Requirements

  • •Solid experience with a systems language; Pyroscope is written in Go and experience with one or more languages such as Rust, C, C++, Python, or Java is expected.
  • •Experience building and operating cloud services and running distributed, multi-tenant data systems in production.
  • •Product sense: comfortable talking to customers and translating ambiguous needs into deliverables in a team without a dedicated PM.
  • •Strong software craftsmanship: write clean, robust, performant software and know when to optimize versus when to ship.
  • •Operational mindset: have carried a pager and performed SRE-style work, treating reliability as a feature.
