Job Summary

Perform prescribed service work for a natural gas utility by handling customer requests such as connections and disconnections, answering basic questions, and informing customers about needed repairs. Install, program, and operate Wireless Meter Reading (WMR) equipment, read meters for billing, and maintain accurate records and reports. Support emergency responsiveness, address safety and encroachment issues, and ensure safe operation and inspection of assigned company vehicles and equipment. Work includes potential standby, shifts, weekends, and callouts.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform basic work using clearly prescribed procedures.
•Respond to customer service requests, including connections and disconnections as operator-qualified.
•Install, program, and operate WMR equipment; may read meters and record usage for billing.
•Support natural gas and other emergency responsiveness and may handle standby duty and emergency callouts.
•Maintain accurate records and reports and ensure safe operation/inspection of assigned company vehicles and equipment, while identifying and addressing safety and encroachment issues.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or GED; must complete assigned classes.
•Valid driver’s license in accordance with company standards.
•Maintain Operator Qualifications (OQ) and complete OJT for the Service Learning Path, along with required classroom training/certifications.
•Ability to use company internet/intranet web resources for data entry and retrieval.
•Ability to perform required physical demands (including lifting up to 45 and 53 pounds) and meet safety-sensitive requirements such as DOT/PHMSA drug testing and MVR background checks.
