Job Summary

Lead high-impact engineering teams focused on evolving Flywire’s core payments architecture. Serve as a player-coach while setting priorities, developing talent, and managing resources across multiple product lines. Drive modern distributed system architecture, design AI-assisted workflow orchestration for compliance and risk mitigation, and enforce quality through design reviews, TDD, and CI/CD. Partner closely with Product, QA, and SRE to align roadmaps with business outcomes.

•Provide long-term technical direction to drive modern, reliable, performant, and scalable distributed systems for Flywire’s payments engine.
•Design workflow orchestration and decision support systems leveraging AI to optimize compliance and risk mitigation.
•Establish engineering quality through design reviews and practices such as TDD and CI/CD, while partnering with Product, QA, and SRE on roadmaps.

Key Requirements

•3+ years of experience managing and mentoring engineering teams, including performance management and hiring.
•7+ years of software engineering experience building high-availability production systems with distributed architecture.
•Hands-on experience building or supporting payment platforms, payment gateways, financial systems, or fintech products.
•Strong understanding of payment processing and payment orchestration, including card payments and banking integrations.
•Strong ability to influence senior leaders and communicate technical topics clearly to non-technical partners.
