Key Responsibilities

  • •Install, decommission, and troubleshoot network equipment and circuits, including fiber, transport equipment, and critical infrastructures
  • •Troubleshoot to isolate and restore network service; proactively identify potential problem areas and support escalation/reporting
  • •Perform installation/change/decommission and testing of next generation technologies (edge compute, wavelength services, fiber optic transport, Ethernet, SONET, and IP network layers)
  • •Install and test network and customer equipment (CPE) and support delivery of end user services
  • •Utilize tools/software to locate, mark, and protect underground outside plant facilities; maintain tools, test sets, and inventory/materials, and perform level 1 preventive maintenance and inspections

Key Requirements

  • •2+ years installing, testing, and turn-up of telecommunication equipment including SONET, DCS, DWDM, routers, and switches
  • •Strong technical/mechanical background with next-generation transport gear and knowledge of locating fiber optic cable, right-of-way, and as-builts
  • •Experience in at least two technician disciplines: Transmission (DS1/DS3/SONET), Switching (circuit-switching/SS7), TCP/IP, and Outside Plant (fiber locating, OTDR, mass fusion splicing)
  • •PC skills with Microsoft Windows and Office, plus ability to learn corporate databases
  • •Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record, with ability to work in all weather conditions and lift 50 pounds
