Job Summary

Set up and operate autogenous and wire-fed orbital welding equipment to join stainless steel and specialty alloy tubing and vacuum components to exacting standards. Read work orders, blueprints, WPS, and P&ID drawings to plan weld sequences and acceptance criteria. Perform vacuum/gas/pneumatic assembly and troubleshooting, inspect and leak-test completed welds, and maintain accurate production records while ensuring safety and continuous improvement in a cleanroom-adjacent environment.

Key Responsibilities

•Set up and operate orbital welding equipment to join stainless steel and specialty alloy tubing, fittings, and vacuum components to quality standards.
•Interpret work orders, operation method sheets, blueprints, WPS, and P&ID drawings to determine weld sequence, joint preparation, and acceptance criteria.
•Perform mechanical assembly, disassembly, troubleshooting, and repair of vacuum, gas delivery, and pneumatic subassemblies.
•Inspect completed welds visually and using precision measuring and leak-detection instruments; identify, document, and correct defects or nonconformances.
•Maintain travelers and records in the production tracking system, and maintain/calibrate/troubleshoot welding heads and power supplies while following safety standards.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma or GED; technical diploma or associate degree in welding technology, machining, or a related trade strongly preferred.
•Completion of a formal welding and orbital welding training program (trade school, apprenticeship, or military) preferred.
•3-5 years of hands-on welding experience in a manufacturing, aerospace, semiconductor, or high-purity fabrication environment, with orbital/TIG-specific experience a plus.
•Current or attainable welder certification such as AWS D1.1/D1.6 or ASME Section IX (or equivalent), with ability to re-certify as required.
•Ability to read and apply AWS welding symbols, weld procedure specifications (WPS), and engineering drawings/blueprints.
