Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide technical support for research activities using a range of laboratory techniques including protein production, purification, and protein-protein interaction assays (ELISA).
  • •Carry out molecular biology work such as site-directed mutagenesis and DNA extraction (mini/maxi prep).
  • •Perform cell culture work with blood cells and run associated assays including flow cytometry.
  • •Maintain accurate records of techniques and experimental procedures, follow legislation and Standard Operating Procedures, and resolve issues within your area or escalate appropriately.
  • •Support health and safety compliance including safe handling and disposal of laboratory materials; assist with equipment maintenance, stocks/consumables, and related administrative tasks.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: GBP 27,546 - 29,171 annually

Key Requirements

  • •NVQ, BTEC/ONC at level three (or equivalent) with relevant subject experience.
  • •GCSE level 2 qualification (A*-C/4-9) in mathematics and English (or equivalent).
  • •Practical experience of the listed laboratory techniques and working knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice.
  • •Experience in a laboratory teaching or research environment, or the ability to demonstrate capability to participate in research projects.
  • •Understanding of the Human Tissue Act and ability to organise and manage own workload.
