Key Responsibilities

  • •Guard and safeguard non-citizen detainees and the general public at government buildings in custodial or court settings.
  • •Ensure detainee safety and security by following detention, processing, and security/escort procedures and maintaining order and discipline.
  • •Qualify regularly on a standard course of fire and complete all required training, including defensive tactics, while maintaining physical fitness.
  • •Maintain equipment and communications readiness (radio and authorized equipment), inspect/care for gear, and carry authorized intermediate weapons in accordance with use-of-force policy.
  • •Document and perform operational checks: make legible logbook entries, conduct security and sanitation checks, inventory equipment, and follow organizational safety policies.

Key Requirements

  • •US citizen or lawfully admitted permanent resident with U.S. residency for the last five years.
  • •High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • •Pass a criminal background and consumer credit check (no criminal record).
  • •Obtain and maintain a DHS/ICE government clearance; pass pre-employment and random drug tests and a medical examination.
  • •Ability to obtain and maintain an armed state security guard license (Minnesota or Nebraska) and possess a valid driver’s license or CDL and a valid firearm license.
