Job Function: Manufacturing & Production Operations

Key Responsibilities

  • •Adhere to health, safety, and environmental practices, maintain housekeeping, and actively participate in VFLs, risk assessments, and safety action close-outs.
  • •Control floor stock activities by ensuring blasts use the correct charge amount and minimizing vibration and community impact.
  • •Measure drilled holes (primary and secondary) to confirm explosive and accessory quantities, and obtain blasting accessories from the explosives magazine.
  • •Charge blasting holes with prescribed explosives, inspect blasting areas after operations for misfires/unsafe conditions, and declare areas safe for normal operations.
  • •Compile blasting reports for the supervisor, create SAP orders, take minutes in sectional meetings, and assist the supervisor/co-workers to achieve functional objectives.

Key Requirements

  • •Grade 12/N3 Technical education.
  • •Opencast Blasting Certificate.
  • •Valid Kumba Dover Certificate.
  • •3-5 years of previous mining blasting operational experience, including knowledge of mining blasting processes.
  • •Knowledge of Mine Health and Safety Act/Regulations and Explosives Act/Regulations (plus SA Drivers Licence: Code B preferred/required as stated).
