Key Responsibilities

  • •Contribute to lighting design for highways, industrial and decorative lighting projects, sports facilities, car parks, and amenity areas.
  • •Conduct site surveys and desktop studies, including pre-design infrastructure review and lighting assessments for environmental impact.
  • •Provide lighting design outputs, ensuring designs and drawings meet required standards, quality, and project deadlines.
  • •Understand project scope and deliverables, provide regular status updates on progress, risks, issues, concerns, and changes to senior engineer/project manager.
  • •Coordinate with design team members and CAD technicians; support business development activities (CPD events, exhibitions, and seminars) and sustainability approach.

Key Requirements

  • •At least BEng in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Electronics and Telecom Engineering with 3-6 years of relevant experience (or equivalent 4-8 years as a lighting engineer / 1-5 years as an assistant lighting engineer).
  • •Complete or part completion of ILP’s Lighting Exterior Lighting Diploma (or equivalent).
  • •Experience in lighting design aligned to relevant British and EU standards, manuals, and UK local authority specifications.
  • •Strong computer skills using Lighting Reality, Dialux, AutoCAD, and Amtech (and experience with modelling or spreadsheet calculations).
  • •Good English communication; ability to take design decisions, check own work, coordinate with multi-offices/multi-discipline projects, and be seconded to the UK for up to 3 months as projects dictate.
