Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead the CSP team to support delivery of CSP objectives on advanced projects and design community engagement and relationship-building approaches.
  • •Ensure CSP concerns and proactive social management are fully integrated into projects and Rio Tinto’s broader approach in Colombia.
  • •Develop strategic approaches for community and stakeholder engagement in the Chocó District to secure social licence to operate and advance projects.
  • •Oversee community relationship management, including understanding local community dynamics, agreements, cultural heritage issues, and handling complaints, disputes, and grievances.
  • •Build CSP capability across teams in Colombia and Comitá through training, coaching, and guidance, and advise project leadership on stakeholder engagement forums and discussions.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s or postgraduate qualification preferred.
  • •15+ years leading Community & Social Performance in mining or complex project environments.
  • •Deep experience working with rural, Indigenous, and Afro-Colombian communities using international social performance standards.
  • •Strong expertise in community agreements, FPIC, Colombian prior consultation, and stakeholder engagement.
  • •Proven ability to manage social, cultural, political, regulatory, and reputational risks, including experience with grievance mechanisms and mitigation planning.
